From the roots of steel to the viticulture of the future
Every innovation is born from an idea, but it only grows when it finds fertile ground.
The story of Vignetinox is the result of a vision that spans generations, unites different skills and is renewed year after year: the all-Italian ability to transform matter into value.
It is a journey that began long before the name Vignetinox, when the Bortolussi family worked steel with precision and intuition, without imagining that from that experience a new way of thinking about the vineyard would be born.
1969 - Origins: mechanics as language
Mollificio Bortolussi Srl was founded in the heart of the industrial Northeast, a company specializing in the production of elastic metal elements: springs, shaped components, technical products in wire and strip.
It is an environment where mechanical expertise is everyday, where one learns about metals, their reactions, their limits.
Years where attention to detail becomes method, and quality becomes culture.
1979 - The insight that changed viticulture
This is the breakthrough year: the Vignetinox brand is born.
A winemaker asks for an innovative solution, and the company responds by combining its expertise on steel and its passion for the countryside.
From that first order-portrayed in a photograph that he still recounts is jealously preserved-a development that would change the industry began.
The introduction of uncoated 302/304 stainless steel into the vineyards is a pioneering act:
- Increased mechanical strength,
- Lower elongation,
- lower maintenance,
- Superior durability,
- 100% recyclable material.
The first patents were born, including the latch-lock and lug-lock systems, solutions that were both simple and ingenious.
The 1990s - Innovation and leadership
The product range expands: poles, wires and accessories designed through increasingly advanced machining.
It is a time of great turmoil: viticulture is changing, the demand for quality is growing, and Vignetinox is bringing to market solutions that combine agronomy and engineering.
Research becomes a constant.
Environmental sustainability is not yet a buzzword, but it is already a topic of attention.
2000s - Made in Italy Production Evolution.
With the new millennium, Mollificio Bortolussi accelerates:
- automation,
- computerization,
- Careful selection of suppliers,
- continuing education.
Quality control becomes an indispensable pillar, because that Made in Italy we talk so much about is not a label, but a responsibility.
The company also went through the 2008 crisis unscathed, strong with a clear vision: precision cannot be improvised.
2010 - The transition to a green economy
A new phase begins.
The plant is powered by the photovoltaic system, robotization reduces waste and errors, and production processes become more efficient and more nature-friendly.
Uncapped wires eliminate residues on vegetation and soil, promoting cleaner and safer viticulture.
2019 - 50 years of history and a living legacy
Fifty years after its founding, Mollificio Bortolussi is celebrating an important milestone.
The chosen motto- “Evolution in tradition, in harmony with nature “-is not a slogan: it is the truth that runs through its entire history.
Today that legacy lives on in Vignetinox.
In every post, in every wire, in every accessory is the same union of vision and concreteness that guided the company in 1969.
A story that looks ahead
Vignetinox is not just the sum of what has been: it is what continues to become.
An integrated, technological system designed to last.
A meeting point between agronomy and engineering.
A simple idea, which today more than ever is fundamental: innovating means respecting nature and giving a solid foundation to the future of viticulture.
